After the process piping system is installed, air or steam purging can be used, depending on the working medium’s operating conditions and the degree of contamination on the piping’s inner surface. Air purging should utilize the production unit’s large compressor, or intermittently purging using a large container within the unit. The purging pressure must not exceed the design pressure of the container and piping, and the flow rate should not be less than 20 m/s. Steam purging should be performed with a high flow rate of steam, at a flow rate of no less than 30 m/s.
